This is my Songs Everyone Will Hate Page,
so sit back and enjoy this little tour of this on-going recording project!
It's been in progress for almost 2 years, not because it is the most elaborate
album ever made (!), but because I work really hard on it for a week or two, but
then get sidetracked by life in general, and don't get back at it for 2 or 3
months! Mr. Workaholic here!
Anyway, it's on the home stretch now (although I've been saying that since March
of 2000!), so hopefully this album will grace the music market very soon!

BACKGROUND INFO:
As many of you know, back in 1999, I purchased a very cool Roland "Digital Studio Workstation!" This enabled me to record my own project at home in my free time. (It was cool at the time, but not so much now!)This is something I have wanted to do my whole life, and I am enjoying almost every minute of it (almost, because hey... this stuff can be really boring sometimes!)
So... not to sound apocalyptic, but this album is going to be honest. I hope nobody is offended by what I end up putting on this album. I hope you guys know me well enough to accept my honesty for what it is: "one guys' occasional confusion at figuring out what all of this means!"

Barely conscious... this is where the "magic" happens!
About the Songs:
Songs Everyone Will Hate is a collection of songs from my past. In a sense, I don't feel I can move onto the next chapter in my musical life until I allow these old memories to have "their moment." Since about 1985, I have recorded home demos of countless songs. Being in both The Awakening and One Hundred Days gave me a great creative outlet, yet there were still lots of songs that simply didn't fit any of those molds, so regardless of their merit as songs or ideas, they got left behind. Now that I am not in a band anymore, I can do the artistic thing, and just do whatever amuses me!At this point, I could care less if I sell 20 copies of SEWH... in fact, I may even just give them away. (Actually.. I may HAVE to, if nobody offers to pay!) In some ways, I feel like I SHOULD have to pay you to listen to this stuff! There may not be a definable flow to the album, and some songs may confuse people... but, it will make me happy, so hopefully you'll like it too!
At one time, I had over 35 songs on the list. Now that the album is almost complete, it has only 24-25 songs on it, but you have to remember, some of these tunes are under a minute long, so it's not going to be a double album! (Although the thought of making this an MP3 format album would allow me to put 40-50 songs on it!!)
Updates on Songs Everyone Will Hate!
(UPDATED INFO - Jan 2001)
What follows below is the last full update I did on this project, which was from June of 2000, showing you how long it takes me to get a significant amount of work done on this project! Since that update, I have finished most of the guitars, all of the vocals, and percussion, but still have keyboards to do. After that, it's mix time, master time, and get it into your hands time!! Enjoy this old update, if you haven't already seen it:
On May 28/2000, I took a big risk, by setting up drums at the Murch Music warehouse, in hopes that my playing would be ok enough to make the album! It was my hope from the beginning that this could truly be a solo album, in the Steve Winwood/Stevie Wonder sense of the word. I used to play drums (with no fixed ability) as a teenager. While still in highschool, I got hired as the full time drummer in an 80's dance band (ie, the Wedding Singer!) with my highschool music teachers Doug Shippey and Ed Steer, with Andrew Horrocks on guitar. This was the band that basically brought Andy and I together, which of course led to years of intense work together.
Well.. I was never that good on the drums, but I got the job done. I played with this band until around 1990, when the band sort of dissolved. As a drummer, that was pretty much it for me until May of 2000!
So, needless to say.. I was concerned about whether I could setup a drum kit and be able to play at even a terrible level, let alone a fantastic level!
I spent a few days practicing and trying to get the sore hands used to the pain of drumming again, but in many ways, I was totally winging it!Andrew Horrocks was nice enough to come to the warehouse to help me setup the drums and help me get good sounds and levels. Once everything was patched in and working, he left, and I spent the next 6 hours or so trying to play the drums.
Coming soon on my SOUNDS page will be solo drum highlights, for those of you who want to hear the finer details of a mediocre drummer!
Also... check out these pictures of Andrew Brideau, my good friend and guitar ace, who played the unplayable guitar solo for "Puke Stuff" back in March. He was incredible!
Check the SOUNDS page out to hear his solo isolated. Pretty scary stuff!
COMING SOON!
