With the advent of PODCASTS, I've decided to spend some time creating Podcasts instead of having a lot of individual songs at my site. Because these Podcasts take up a fair amount of server space, I've had to get rid of most of my audio files. Check back here soon for more info on my upcoming Podcasts.

That's
It, I'm Goin' Gay!
*Added March 15/04*
For those of you who have traveled
here in the past, you might recognize this title, but believe me, this ain't
some cassette demo like you heard once before! This is the full-blown
version, recorded recently. Lyrically, I have to thank "Carl West" for
giving me the inspiration for the title and the lyric. It is a phrase he
actually used in reference to a frustrating dating scenario he had played out,
and well... the rest is history!!
Always
True
*Added March 7/04*
From the guy who says he hates cheesy
romance lyrics comes a song full of pathetic neediness!! This was written
a few years ago while I was on tour, and I was missing my girlfriend. I left the
song un-recorded because I was never sure that it was that great of a song. But
almost two years later, I suddenly found myself humming the melody, and I
figured I might as well do a quick recording and see if it grows on me or not!
It's nothing fancy, just a short and sweet pop song about finding
"true" love, even though I feel dirty just typing that!!
Rest
In Peace
*Recorded December 4,5/03*
Here is what is SUPPOSED to be the
final song for my New Alignment project, a summation if you will, of my journey
from a misplaced married guy to a grounded individual...something like
that! (Dr. Phil can make better sense of it than I
can!) I wrote it back in 2001 on the
day where I really knew in my heart that it was time to leave the legacy behind
and start making a path of my own. It was the beginning of the best period of my
whole life. After this point, I still wrote the odd song that had something to
do with my ex-wife, but not so much in the "heart on your sleeve"
variety. I started writing more poignant songs like "Blow Me Kisses,"
and "That's It I'm Goin' Gay!!" I hope you enjoy this
recording.
Oh, speaking of which... the
recording: This song has always been just me on my guitar, singing.
Production and orchestration were always up for grabs. When I decided to get
working on this, I decided to make it into a full-blown orchestral number
(albeit cheap beyond belief!), with strings, pizz strings, orchestral
percussion, French accordions and even mandolins. Hearing this as it is right
now, I could see this being WAY over the top in the orchestration department...
but for that to happen, someone is going to have to fit the bill!!
Me
Away From You -
*Added Nov7/03*
This is a most depressing song, sorry
to say.
It's basically about waking up and realizing everything you've hoped for is not
to be. In a sense, and you won't like hearing this from me, hope is a form of
rape, especially when you are unrealistically hoping for things that can never
be, at least in any rational state of reality. Hmm... should I be a
philosophying-ish type of guy?!!! Anyway... it's a nice recording, very
basic and honest, but it really is a major bummer!!

Here is a song from that "New
Alignment" thing... a song about healing... well, bizarre, unhealthy ways
of healing, I guess! The reference to Zumpano is in reference to the band
of the same name. When these words were written, Zumpano was playing in the
background. Musically, this is the biggest production I've attempted on my
humble ProTools setup at home... strings, pads, layered guitars, drum loops,
programming, and cascading harmonies... this was a bit of a chore.
Ten
Cartwheels
This is one of my favorite songs of the last
couple of years. Written after I had finished all of the writing for The New
Alignment, I was in the mood to write stuff that was just happy. I was in a
state of being "just happy" when I wrote this (and many other songs of
this period)! I'm really proud of this on a compositional level, and as of
this writing (November 2003), it has a perfect 5/5 rating at www.garageband.com!!

OLDER TUNES:
Shabby Doll - A great Elvis Costello tune. This is a live recording from one of my pub dates here in town. It was a boring gig, so I grabbed some Costello lyrics and just improvised through this one. I had never played it before, so that explains my screw ups at the first chorus. Great tune, and I have to say, until I sang it this night, I forgot how amazing these lyrics are!
I'm Only Sleeping: A never-before-heard demo by One Hundred Days, recorded in 1993-94, before we had a record deal. This is a classic Lennon/McCartney tune from the Revolver album, which Andrew Horrocks, Gord Stevenson and myself ripped to shreds! Hope you enjoy this rare little gem!
Get back to the topper-most!
